Mission Statement
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Alabama is a member-directed organization that provides adults social, educational, travel, and leadership opportunities. An inclusive, welcoming, and volunteer program, OLLI focuses on lifelong learning and socialization.
The Importance of Lifelong Learning
Besides broadening your knowledge, research has shown that adults who stay active intellectually are also healthier and more socially balanced. Other studies suggest keeping your brain busy helps fight off effects of age on memory and perception and may possibly slow the development of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
